The fabulous mentawai Islands are one of the most exciting surf zone in the world!! 4 mains islands with plenty of passes and reefs, with several groups of smaller islands pretty close to others. All swell directions can work there and also lot of differents You can expect variety of waves , plenty of lefts and rights, for all levels. South to North some names : The hole : probably the best left hand barrel in the Mentawais! fast and hollow and shallow and.. far south.. Thunders : very consistent left. Can get big sometimes! bring your gun ! Rag's Right : Heavy right with a powerful barrel section. Rag's left : Perfect left hander when it's ON, very long, ideal size 6-7 ft. Greenbush : recent discovered wave, heavy left with a tropical background. Macaronis : SuperFun High Performance wave!! Probably one of the highest Fun rated Left in the World !! can be heavy above 5ft. Bat cave : Fun right around a small postcard island. Can be long.. Lance's right : high speed perfect barrel with shallow end section called "the surgeon table"(!!!!!) Lance's left : Superfun left with distincts barrel section, and can handle some decent size ... Bintangs : fun right hander close to LL. Seven palm point : Good left hander not too hollow who suits particulary Longboarders. Telescopes : Top 3 best Mentawai Left, powerful walls We recommend to wear some booties and bring a helmet if you have one. But the Surf is generaly shallow and hollow most of the time of best conditions ( As the Reef surfing is!) Getting cut seriously at 10 hours of boat distance to the nearest hospital is pretty heavy. So don't forget to take a travel insurance to go on Wijaya.
